I watched an interesting video on YouTube today, that strikes me tremendously, was the fact that I realized how do we see people by judging from outside rather from the inside. This video is a clip from a famous British show called “Britain Got Talent”. 47 years old Susan Boyle was showed on screen, you can hear people laughed at her. This is because of her unattractive look, a lady from a village, poor dress, large size…people thought that she is just another screw-up. By facing the laugh from the audience, the sarcastic look from the judges, she tried her best to stay calm and said she want to be a “main face”. Until there, even for me, will think she will immediately get 3 big “X” and out from the stage.

But when she started to sing, all people were stunned and immediately Susan Boyle got the standing ovation from all the audience. Her singing touched people in the auditorium and I believed it touches all people who watching the clips. She sung gracefully, and it was so good that people were cheering and cheering as if some superstar was singing on stage. After she finished, a judge comment that, “everybody were against you (in the beginning). I’m honesty thinks we were all being cynical, and it was the biggest wake-up call ever…”

This reminds me of two things that I want to share with you all. First, do not judge people from their outside. We might think that “so and so cannot do this” or “this job will not fit him/her”, and sometime we’ll conclude that “he/she will fail”. Let them try first, you will never know what they will achieve, even can bring you surprises. Second, do not underestimate yourselves. If you want to try something, go ahead, as long it not goes beyond the law. Do not afraid of people, they might mock you, laugh at you. But in the end, most of the time, it’s your courage that helps you earn the most respect.


So to all the youth, do not look down yourselves just because the way people judging you. Go out and prove what you have to them. Also, do not judge others by the way they look, because they also need appreciate from other like you do.
